After about 6 months of ownership I became a ware of a short squealing sound when pulling away in first gear. Mileage then was about 27,000. I took it to a Kia dealership who said it was the clutch but warned me that it may not be covered by the warranty as it is a wear and tear item.

It appears when accelrating about 3000rpm and reduce throttle for changing gear up. Now ~1000km later i have been listening it more carefully and noise comes out between 2500-3500rpm when decreasing throttle or while driving on very light load, if load goes down to engine braking or load increases, noise disappears, also at full throttle I had the same problem with my Sportage 3. Turns out a gear selector linkage had a worn out plastic piece. Sadly not available in UK. So I made my own replacement using a cut down 8mm external diameter socket. Then used JB Kwik Weld Metal to cure it enough do I can drive it asap. Drives like new, will last year's longer than original. . 162 231 173 186 330 327 429 377
