I've been using Maxima Extra 4 for the last few oil changes. It's cheap, and has given me good results with the blackstone tests. I also change my oil much more frequently that the manual recommends, usually about every 2k. Current bikes: 2015 Duke 690, 2003 Rc51, 1974 Cb750, 1976 Rd400, 1982 Gn400, 1987 Klr250, 1996 Gs500.
Stick with the manual intervals, dump the oil, change the filter, and clean the screens. Don't skimp on any of it. As for oil, stick with 10w50. I prefer Amsoil Dirtbike 10W-50 synthetic (the one pictured above), but you could also use Motorex Power Synt 4t, which is the factory recommended.
