The scales are set so that people actually progress in game. How else would you complete a 18 hour delivery if the scale was much closer to realistic ;) I also learned from this game that metrication is so slow in the UK that every traffic sign still uses miles, so a 30MPH limiting sign translates to 50KPH speed limit and 60 MPH limits to 90KPH.
